Modernist view on graphic designers are to be invisible and rather than the artist being well know, but their work to speak for itself. Compared to post modernist designers create to be noticed and appreciated.

During our lecture looked at the documentary Helvetica and watched two famous graphic designers from different spectrum's of style, where they discussed their views on their designs and the font Helvetica.
Massiomo Vignelli : Modernist graphic designer
- Teamed up with Swiss graphic designer Max Huber
- Created the 1972 map of the New York subway
- Designs based on logic instead of emotions
- Pure form following function
- Believes the underground maps should be one line with dots to represent the route and stops instead of today's complicated ones
- Helvetica creates clarity and is no fuss
- Dislikes post modernism and believes it's a lost generation
- Post modernism is the opposite of logic
