FINISHES: EMBOSSING + DEBOSSING

Embossing and debossing are the processes of creating a raised or indented images or designs. This process is used generally in paper but can be applied to other materials. The process creates a three-dimensional feel to print work create a unique and interactional finish.

An embossed pattern is raised against the background, while a debossed pattern is sunken into the surface of the material. This process generally works better with thicker stocks to see the finish.
